Hot take: premium volume doesn’t matter

Premium doesn’t pay the bills. It says nothing about whether those policies made money, retained, or dragged down the profit-sharing check that funds the agency.

A producer doesn’t care about premium either. They want to know the commission dollars they’ve sold, earned, and been paid. They also want to know how to increase that number next month.

But most agencies are stuck reporting this information in spreadsheets that are too slow to be helpful, if they’re even reporting this info at all.

That’s why we just launched the Producer Portal.

Here’s what it looks like

An AccountAim customer had a producer who ranked second in premium. Everyone treated him like a star. But it turned out he ranked seventh in revenue, had high churn accounts, and was running a 116% loss ratio that was pulling down contingent commissions for the whole agency. This is not good performance.

Their existing commissions process caught none of this. On the surface his numbers looked great, so nobody thought twice. This went on for years.

The Producer Portal put all of these insights on one screen. Once the producer could see his own revenue and loss ratio, he stopped chasing the accounts that ran hot and started writing business that renewed. His book turned around, and his commission check grew.

That’s the power of the Producer Portal. Not only does it cut down on commission questions and build trust with producers, but it gets them focused on the right business that grows EBITDA.

A new kind of view

The Portal connects to your AMS and carrier statements to give each producer a live, self-serve view of their own numbers, updated in real time. Every figure traces back to a reconciled policy and the exact amount payroll cuts.

That’s what lets it do things a spreadsheet can’t.

Eliminate producer commission questions

The Portal shows every policy that paid, the split applied, running totals by month, and sold vs. earned status. “How much have I made with Erie this year?” and “Did I get paid on the John Smith policy?” answers itself in seconds. Finance can finally focus on strategic work.

See what actually makes money

Producers see revenue instead of premium, so they know what they’re actually bringing to the agency. They see retention and churn clearly, so they write more of what sticks. And they see the loss ratio on their own book, the number that decides whether their growth helps the agency or drains it. Good producers self-correct the moment they can see it.

Find easy dollars hiding in your book

The Portal surfaces account rounding opportunities inside accounts a producer already owns, the fastest dollars they (and you) will ever make. All it takes is the data.
